The Tri-City Valleycats won the 2010 New York-Penn League championship Tuesday after defeating the Brooklyn Cyclones 5-1 in the second game of the best of three championship series.

Valleycats starting pitcher Carlos Quevedo earned the win, allowing just one run on three hits in seven innings pitched.

Second baseman Enrique Hernandez went 3-4 with a double, a walk and two runs batted in.

The win capped an interesting season for the Valleycats, who snuck into the playoffs on the final day of the regular season by beating out the Connecticut Tigers for the Stedler Division crown.
