Three new players join Connecticut Tigers

Shortstop Dixon Machado and right-handed pitchers Wilsen Palacios and Jeff Ferrell were re-assigned from the Gulf Coast League Tigers to the Connecticut Tigers Monday.

All three players were called up after the GCL Tigers failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing their season with a 30-28 record.

Machado, 18, appeared in 43 games for the GCL Tigers, hitting .261 and slugging .321 in 165 at bats.  The scouting report on his TigsTown.com profile says he has above-average speed and defensive abilities.

Palacios, 20, had a 2.79 ERA with 58 strikeouts and 11 walks in 61.1 innings pitched.  TigsTown.com says he throws a plus fastball and an above-average slider.

Ferrell, 19, had a 3.14 ERA with 57 strikeouts and 12 walks in 57.1 innings pitched.
