Cyclones stop Tigers

The Brooklyn Cyclones have the best record in the New York-Penn League and they showed why Saturday night, defeating the Connecticut Tigers 10-0 in front of 2,684 fans at Dodd Stadium.

Rayni Guichardo took the loss Saturday, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits in 6.0 innings pitched

Brooklyn bludgeoned the Tigers pitching staff with seven extra base hits, including home runs from Blake Forsythe and Jeff Flagg.  Most of the damage occurred in the eighth inning in which the Cyclones battered Tigers relievers Ramon Lebron and Logan Hoch to the tune of six runs on six hits and two walks.

Cyclones starting pitcher Yohan Almonte may have appreciated the offensive support, but he hardly needed it, as he shutout the Tigers for all nine innings to earn the complete game victory.

With the loss, Connecticut dropped from first to third place in the Stedler Division standings as Vermont and Tri-City were both victorious in their games against the Aberdeen IronBirds and Hudson Valley Renegades respectively.

The Tigers and Cyclones will continue their series at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.  Josue Carreno (4-6, 4.47) is scheduled to start for the Tigers.  He will be opposed by Angel Cuan (5-0, 1.91) of the Cyclones.
