Tigers lose at damp Dodd

Many Connecticut Tigers players donned jackets in the dugout for the first time this season on a damp, windy Monday evening at Dodd Stadium.

Miguel Mejia pitched well in relief of Guichardo Monday

The wet conditions did not seem to suit the Tigers, who stumbled to a 10-2 loss to the Tri-City Valleycats.

Starting pitcher Rayni Guichardo struggled with his control, walking three and uncorking two wild pitches in just 1.1 innings pitched.  The outing was Guichardo’s shortest start of the season.

Miguel Mejia was a bright spot for the Tigers on an otherwise dreary night, as he pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in relief of Guichardo.

Alexander Nunez led the Tigers offense with a single, double and a run scored.  Ryan Soares went 1-2 with a walk and was the only other Tiger to reach base more than once.

The Tigers will embark on a four-game road trip to Tri-City and Vermont starting on Tuesday.  They will return home for a three-game series against the Brooklyn Cyclones on Saturday.
