Ramon Lebron promoted to Connecticut

Right-handed pitcher Ramon Lebron, 21, was promoted from the Gulf Coast League to the Connecticut Tigers Tuesday.

Lebron spent time with the West Michigan Whitecaps earlier this season, but was re-assigned to the Gulf Coast League after posting a 6.85 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 47.1 innings pitched.  He performed much better in the Gulf Coast League, posting a 2.28 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched.

The 6-foot-1 right-hander has excellent stuff, but has had trouble harnessing his command.  He had 7.42 walks per nine innings during his stint with the Whitecaps, but improved to 2.93 walks per nine innings in the Gulf Coast League.

The scouting report on Lebron’s TigsTown.com profile says his fastball can touch 96-97 mph.  He also throws a curveball and a changeup.
