Tigers split doubleheader with Lake Monsters

The Connecticut Tigers split Thursday’s doubleheader with the Vermont Lake Monsters, winning game one 11-7 and losing game two 4-3.

James Robbins led the Tigers’ hit parade in game one, going 4-4 with a double and a triple.  Kevan Hess earned the win, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.

The Tigers entered the seventh inning of game two with a 3-1 lead, but Antonio Cruz entered the game in relief of Tyler Clark and failed to hold the lead.  Matt Perry and Josh Ashenbrenner each had two hits in the losing effort.  P.J. Polk walked three times and stole three bases.

The Tigers will continue their homestand Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Tri-City Valleycats.  Patrick Cooper (2-1, 3.18) is the probable starting pitcher.
