Scouting Matt Little

Connecticut Tigers relief pitcher Matt Little joined the Tigers organization after being selected in the 31st round of the 2010 MLB draft.  Little posted a 4.93 ERA in 42.0 innings pitched as a junior at Kentucky, while recording 52 strikeouts and 24 walks.

Kentucky head coach Gary Henderson says Little throws a 90-93 mph sinking fastball, a hard sweeping slider and a changeup that has some sink when it is on.  Henderson says all of Little’s pitches have well above-average movement when he is in rhythm.

Little is a tough competitor and he has the aggressive mound presence you look for in a relief pitcher.  He has already made two appearances out of the Connecticut Tigers bullpen, allowing one earned run in four innings pitched, while striking out five.
