Lake Monsters sweep Tigers

The Connecticut Tigers lost to the Vermont Lake Monsters 6-3 Tuesday, despite a 3-4 effort from left fielder Matt Mansilla.

Starting pitcher Lance Baxter struggled through three innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits.  Shawn Teufel pitched two innings in relief, and while he allowed a run on two hits, he recorded all six outs via the strikeout.

Strikeouts were once again a problem for the Tigers hitters, who struck out 12 times against three different Lake Monsters pitchers.

The Tigers will wrap up their road trip with a three-game series against the Lowell Spinners beginning on Wednesday.  Right-handed pitcher Clemente Mendoza (0-0, 4.50) is expected to get the start for Connecticut.
