P.J. Polk injured in Tigers 5-3 victory

Designated hitter P.J. Polk limped off the field after grounding out in the first inning of Sunday’s 5-3 win against the Tri-City Valleycats.

Polk was replaced by Ryan Enos, who had been scheduled to get the day off after starting at designated hitter in each of the Tigers first two games.

Starting pitcher Rayni Guichardo turned in an excellent effort, allowing only one run in seven innings of work and earning the win in his first appearance of the season.

Left fielder Matt Mansilla led the Tigers offense, going two for five with a home run and two runs batted in.  Third baseman Matt Perry contributed two hits and a walk and first baseman James Robbins scored twice.

The Tigers will travel to Burlington, Vt. for a two game series against the Vermont Lake Monsters beginning Monday.  Right-handed pitcher Josue Carreno is the scheduled starter for the Tigers.
