Scouting Ryan Enos

Dallas Baptist outfielder Ryan Enos signed a free agent contract with the Tigers after going unselected in the 2010 MLB draft.  He led Dallas Baptist nearly every offensive category this season as a senior, so it may come as a bit of a surprise that he went undrafted.

Dallas Baptist assistant coach Nate Frieling says Enos is the best hitter to come through the program in the seven years he has been a coach at Dallas Baptist.  Frieling even gives Enos the edge over Ryan Goins, a former Dallas Baptist infielder who was drafted in the fourth round a year ago.

“His pitch-to-pitch adjustments are outstanding,” Frieling said.  “That’s the reason he gives you such good at-bats, because it doesn’t take him an entire plate appearance to make an adjustment if something is not right.”

Frieling believes Enos did not get drafted because he got off to a slow start this spring and Dallas Baptist did not have any other highly-touted prospects to make scouts come back and get a second look at him.

Enos primarily played center field in college, but Frieling believes he projects as a left fielder at the professional level.
